International news provider Thomson Reuters has unveiled a new app aimed at providing business professionals with personalised news that can help them make better, more informed decisions.
The app, which launched on iOS with an Android version coming soon, has been built with a focus on “news utility”, with design that puts an emphasis on topic-based feeds, providing fast, accurate and relevant information that can quickly inform readers’ judgement across industries, interests, markets and countries.
The app includes thousands of topic feeds from Reuters vast global news resource which can be curated into a highly-customised news service. It also offers a range of personalisation features including customised alerts, ‘market watchlists’ and bespoke analysis of stocks, bonds, currencies and commodities.
“People rely on Reuters to inform their personal and professional decision-making,” said Isaac Showman, managing director of Reuters Consumer. “In building the new app, we wanted to make it easier for users to access quality news and data across the thousands of specialist topics we cover. By being a ‘news utility’, we’re focusing on being incredibly useful, fast and relevant for our users.”
Other features in the app include ‘Editor’s Highlight’ cards that provide a summary of major stories in each feed, a personalised news bulletin from Reuters TV with customisable length setting, and offline access to stories and features.
Reuters has been one of the leading investors in AI-generated news content, aiming to innovate when it comes to developing software that can automatically produce content based on various sources of information.
