The Gang appoints Joel Edström as Head of Platform Strategy to drive business expansion

The Gang, a developer studio specialising in creating bespoke immersive gaming experiences, has appointed Joel Edström as its new Head of Platform Strategy to drive business growth and unlock further opportunities in the gaming and user-generated content (UGC) landscape.

In his new role, Edström will spearhead the development and execution of a strategy aimed at expanding The Gang’s presence across new gaming and UGC platforms. This will involve acquiring knowledge of these platforms, forging relationships with key industry stakeholders, and creating infrastructure to empower The Gang’s clients – including some of the world’s biggest and most innovative brands – to reach their target audiences through new gaming and UGC platforms.

Prior to joining The Gang, Edström served as the Head of Production for the Viaplay Studio Animation division at Viaplay Group (formerly MTG and Nordic Entertainment Group). Over his three-year tenure, he co-founded the R&D department focusing on VR, AR and XR, and held the role of Content and Marketing Lead for VR. Edström brings a wealth of experience in orchestrating multi-platform brand activations and campaigns for renowned brands such as L’Oreal, McDonald’s, and Carlsberg.

Edström has also held leadership roles at Nice One, part of Nice Entertainment Group, and as a Board member at Xenter Botkyrka, one of Sweden’s pioneering VR producers.
