The Lucy Rayner Foundation collaborates with Snapchat to launch transformative lens empowering young people to use their voices

The Lucy Rayner Foundation (TLRF) based in Surrey, a well-known mental health charity focusing on awareness and supporting young adults, is delighted to announce a collaboration with Snapchat, the visual messaging platform, to develop a ground-breaking lens designed to facilitate open conversation and encourage young people to express their emotions effectively.

From 31st January 2024, the lens will be available on Snapchat with a mission to engage and support as many 14 – 25-year-olds as possible within Surrey.

At a time when mental health concerns among young individuals have become prevalent, this unique lens seeks to leverage the power of creative technology to encourage self-expression and enables its users to reach out for support to a trusted friend or family when needed.

The LRF Charity aims to have the lens fully up and running for Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week which will take place between the 5th and 11th of February 2024, with the theme ‘My Voice Matters’.

The bespoke Snapchat lens gives a voice to young people by providing an easy way for its users to write a message and reach out for support in a direct, safe and confidential manner which could provide life-changing support for someone in need.

The Lens is the brainchild of LRF. The CEO Jenny Rayner said:By harnessing Snapchat’s platform, we can empower young people to express their feelings and ask for help from those who they trust. Being able to do this on a platform where they’re already connecting with their friends and family, makes it easier to break down barriers and encourage conversations around mental health.’

‘Too many young people are feeling isolated. By using our lens, they can easily reach out and ask for what they need without having to worry about what to write or plucking up the courage to verbally express their concerns.’

The Lucy Rayner Foundation is a registered charity 1195259, that offers counselling services and support groups to young people who are struggling with their mental health. In 2023 TLRF saw over 688 young people through their counselling services and anticipates that this will increase in 2024. The charity also services its community by raising awareness through education and training. The Snapchat Lens is part of this campaign to provide innovative solutions and early interventions.
